About Meles Zenawi Foundation (MZF)

This website has been created in memory of H.E. Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia who passed away on Monday, 20th August 2012.

The aim of this website is to commemorate his hard work and dedication to the Ethiopian people. He was truly a servant of the Ethiopian people who will be remembered by many as a champion of peace, development and defender of democracy. As well as working for the citizens of Ethiopia, he was also the voice and spokesman for the whole of Africa on global issues, providing leadership and vision on climate change and facilitating peace negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan.

H.E. Prime Minister Meles Zenawi was an architect of development strategies and policies, poverty reduction and alleviation programmes that lifted millions out of poverty, and steered Ethiopia on the path to democracy. He was instrumental in bringing about peace and economic development on a grand scale by joining and working together with all ethnic groups in the country.

We pay tribute and recognise the extraordinary lifelong contributions and sacrifices he made to Ethiopia's development. Let us celebrate his exemplary leadership and outstanding legacies, and carry on his vision to build the Grand Renaissance Dam.
